Camino de Santiago Photo of the Week – September 22, 2013
On a Pinterest board dedicated to a planned future Camino, I came across this terrific observation from Michelle Schanzbach. At the top of her board, Michelle has posted a brief bio “I am a single mother of 3 and a school teacher in NOLA. I plan to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in a few years. “You don’t choose a life, you live one!” And then these inspiring words:
“Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking” – Antonio Machado
Michelle’s inspired collection of photos capture the breadth of the Camino’s visual beauty, both inner and outer: the signposts with Santiago impossibly far away, the food, the friends, the blisters, the old churches, the early morning fog. What’s so moving about her page is how deeply and instinctively she already understands what the walk is about. It is like she has already walked the Camino. When Michelle does get to Spain – and she will – she will recognize the Camino as the road she is already on.
Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking.
